Last night I went to the screening of Jon Stewart’s movie Rosewater.    After the movie there was a live simulcast event with Stephen Colbert interviewing Jon Stewart and Maziar Bahari.

I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. Unfortunately, there was no sound in the beginning of the movie and the beginning of the interview portion, which caused shocking outbursts from audience members (people need to calm down!). Even so, I was incredibly moved by the story and I thought it was so well done. And it was a real treat to get to hear the interviews right after viewing the film to get additional insight into the story and the making of the film.











It’s the story of BBC journalist Maziar Bahari, an Iranian-born Canadian citizen who in 2009 was detained in Iran for 118 days because of reporting he did of protestors during the presidential election.  The authorities in Iran accused him of being a spy in part because of his participation in a spoof interview he did for Jon Stewart’s Daily Show.  I recommend going to see this movie.  Check out the trailer:
