Now that holiday decorations are put away, it’s time to think about the design projects we want to do in the new year. January is a great month to shop for furniture and home decor because a lot of companies are running sales.

For those of you who are thinking of redoing your living room, this will be for you. I have put together  a collection of sofas that I think have great style. Things to consider when selecting a sofa:

style – tight back or seat or loose cushions, tufted, skirted, nail heads, clean lines or rolled arms, etc…

size – width and depth (measure the space you have prior to shopping and don’t forget to consider the space available to move it in your home, such as doorways)

construction – wood or metal frame, seat (foam cushion, foam wrapped with down, spring blend down combo, or all down)

Spring Blend Down Seat Construction - the best combo

Spring Blend Down Seat Construction – the best combo

fabric – type for durability, fiber content, texture, color (synthetic ultra suedes are very durable, velvets and chenilles last well, linens or cotton are harder to maintain)

cost – if this sofa will get a lot of wear and you want it to last, it pays to spend more on better construction
